California Health Data Exchange Opens Opportunities

As healthcare moves into the digital age, even rivals are showing they can be friends. The $80 million partnership between Blue Shield of California and WellPoint’s Anthem Blue Cross will combine nine million patient records to create one of the largest Health Information Exchanges (HIE) in the nation. Aside from clearing the way for faster and better care, at a lower cost, the non-profit partnership aims to kickstart new innovation.
