StartUp Health Newsletter: Digital Health Goes to the White House

What a week for digital health! On Monday, the biggest tech company in the world — Apple —  made its first (long-anticipated) step into health tech with the announcement of HealthKit in San Francisco. Meanwhile, back East, more than 2,000 government officials, entrepreneurs, investors and experts gathered in Washington, DC, for the fifth Health Datapalooza to improve ways health data can transform healthcare.

We also made news of our own this week, with the addition of eight new companies to our academy! Three years after the launch of our platform, our portfolio has grown to include 71 companies, 40 of which took the stage at our startup showcase at Health Datapalooza to demo for hundreds of investors, customers and strategic partners.

To help us celebrate our growing family of companies — and our third anniversary! — two of our biggest supporters joined us for the event. Our Chairman Jerry Levin kicked off the showcase and Steve Case, founder of AOL and Chairman of Revolution (and a StartUp Health investor), sat down with our CEO Steve Krein for a fireside chat about why health tech entrepreneurs should band together to reimagine healthcare.

We were also honored that legendary technologist and venture capitalist Vinod Khosla participated in our quarterly Healthcare Transformer Summit and offered his thoughts and advice on building the future of healthcare.

The cherry on top of a banner week for StartUp Health companies? A working visit to the White House, where more than 60 of our Healthcare Transformers met with senior health policy officials to focus on transforming healthcare.

Don’t Forget! July 1 Is the Next Deadline to Apply to StartUp Health Academy

We’re on a mission to find our next class of Healthcare Transformers! Find out more about StartUp Health Academy and apply by July 1.
